In today's musical theatre, acting, and the emphasis on story telling are as important as singing and dancing. We at the Institute for American Musical Theatre have devised an acting element to our curriculum that we feel will give our students the tools they need to be successful as a working actor. Pulling from Stanislavski, Strasberg, Meisner, Adler and Hagen to Viola Spolin’s unique "Theater games" method, our students will learn the various acting techniques that are used by today's biggest stars. IAMT is also the only musical theatre program in the country that teachers "The art of the BREATH™" acting technique created and developed by IAMT Acting Head Mr. Michael Minarik. Acting is a deeply personal experience, and we want our students to have a broad palette of colors to paint with. Our wonderful faculty of experienced Broadway professionals will guide our students on a journey of self-discovery and personal artistic growth.
